Eni's Board: put yourself in my shoes!

One of the greatest virtues of a man (and a woman) is to put himself in someone’s shoes. This worthy attitude makes use find out first-hand what the other is experiencing!

What if it was one of you living what I’ve been going through in these almost 20 years? How would you feel? What would you think of the attitude of Eni’s Board, which goes against the premises, the principles and the values of Eni's Code of Ethics?

Microsoft vs Eni

This month, the global media is talking about the "investigation" carried out by Microsoft's Board on the love affair of the company founder Mr. Bill Gates, which occurred in the year "2000".

The Board of the Italian oil giant has, in these 20 long years, a totally different posture from the position of the Microsoft’s Board in relation to its former Chairman, Mr. Gates.

My "ethical fight" with Eni completes two decades in August 2021. In all these years, four different Chairmans and three different CEOs have been contacted by me. But, Eni’s Board did not analyze my case despite the evidences and the proofs presented by me.

In November 2020, Eni requested a "proposal for amicable settlement", confirmed by the Italian Ambassador in Brazil. But, the company was silent ... It did not say "yes" and it did not make a "counterproposal" as determined by "good practices" in commercial or judicial relations. It did not even answered the questions asked by an #Eni "critical shareholder" in May 2021! Eni did the same thing at the AGM 2020.

Some of the questions won't stay silent: What is the purpose of Eni's Code of Ethics? How are the Stakeholders' complaints investigated? Why doesn't the Board of Eni fulfill one of its main roles: to be a "Guardian of Ethics"?

Eni... This is why!

This is why I reported a millionaire scheme of corruption at Eni’s Brazilian subsidiary in 2001.

This is why I am a whistleblower!

This is why I lost my job in reprisal because of those I had reported.

This is why I have, in the past 20 long years, written to four different Chairmen and three different CEOs so that the Board of the company could analyze my case.

This is why I’ve been trying, for almost two decades, to rescue and restore my name, my honor and my reputation unfairly depreciated by the Italian oil giant.

This is why I was a victim of my own whistleblowing!

This is why I was never able to go back to the corporate market, because I am now in a “black list”.

This is why I lost the opportunity to enjoy my retirement when I grow old.

And this is why I would do it all over again!

I am unstoppable!

Italian oil giant Eni... You can believe it... I am unstoppable!!!

And I will never give up trying to rescue and restore my name, my honor and my reputation unfairly, machiavellically and cowardly depreciated by your executives!

Eni & Me: 19 years of "Ethical Clash"

My “Ethical Clash” with the Italian oil giant - to rescue and restore my name, my honor and my reputation - has completed 19 long years.

As an "anniversary gift", I would like Eni to have the dignity to answer the questions that weren’t answered at Eni’s Shareholders’ Meeting that was held in May 2020.

The Italy’s Oil King

The journalists of the The Wall Street Journal (Ms. Sarah McFarlane and Mr. Eric Sylvers ) are at serious risk of being sued by Eni for "slander" and "defamation" - like I am - and for calling (and propagate on the Internet) the CEO of the company, Mr. Claudio Descalzi, “The Italy’s Oil King”.

The Italian journalist Milena Gabanelli (former presenter of Rai's Programa Report ) was also sued by the Italian oil giant.

Eni x Congo

Eni's investments in tar sands and palm oil in the Congo Basin: given  the  high  risk  of  irreversible  environmental  and social  damage,   investments  in  tar  sands  for  oil production and oil palm in the Congo basin should be cancelled (report).

The beginning of the end of Eni!

Today, Judge Giusy Barbara ruled on the conviction of two middlemen in the scandal-ridden OPL 245 oil field deal, in which she stated: "The management of oil companies Eni (and Shell) were fully aware of the fact that part of the $1.092 billion paid would have been used to compensate Nigerian public officials who had a role in this matter and who were circling their prey like hungry sharks,” - as reported by Reuters.

In response, Barnaby Pace, Oil Campaigner at Global Witness said:

"This ruling will send shivers down the spines of the oil industry - and will surely alarm Shell and Eni employees and shareholders who have been repeatedly told that there was nothing amiss with the OPL 245 deal."

The Milan judge made the comment in her written reasons for the September conviction of Nigerian Emeka Obi and Italian Gianluca Di Nardo, both middlemen in the OPL 245 deal, for corruption. The pair were sentenced to four year jail terms.

CEO Eni vs CEO Renault

The French government, which is the largest shareholder of Renault, dismissed Carlos Ghosn from command of the company over allegations of misconduct at Nissan in Japan. Meanwhile, in Italy, Eni's CEO, a defendant for international corruption, remains ahead of the Italian oil gaint. At the very least, a questionable and regrettable stance!

Eni, say the truth!

If two journalists published my story with the Italian oil giant in the first investigative book ("Eni: The Parallel State") and another journalist, in the quality of "Eni's Critical Shareholder", took this same story to "Eni's Shareholders' Meeting" in 2017 and 2018, why the Board of Eni continues to "lie" about the "truth of the facts" in these 17 years of my fight to rescue and restore my name, my honor and my reputation that are being denigrated by Eni to this day?

Eni, say the truth!!!

Eni's AGM 2018 vs Eni's Critical Shareholder

At the AGM 2018, the journalist Mr. Mauro Meggiolaro, using his rights as a critical shareholder of Eni, used the pulpit of the Shareholders' Meeting to talk about my case.

"We have been contacted again by Douglas Linares Pinto, a former manager of the Eni group in Brazil. Since we know that there are legal problems under way with Eni – a couple of years ago we asked a number of questions at the Shareholders’ Meeting on his behalf, with a view to acting as mediators between Douglas Linares Pinto and the Company to try and settle this conflict. I suggest that we organize a meeting with you: we would like to try to solve the issue, if you agree to have a meeting (he wanted to be here but could not come). If we can meet and overcome the emotional side of the affair, which is sometimes a bit strong, and we can instead talk about concrete facts, we would be happy to do so"

When will the Italian oil giant schedule the meeting suggested by one of its shareholders? Will Eni wait for the change of command in the company that will be made by the new Italian government or not?

Eni: deviations of character and misconduct!

Dozen of questions asked to the Board of Eni. A hundred of supporting documents. Ans no answer! Not even a single answer!

The silence of the Italian oil giant only shows its deviations of character and its misconduct.

Last question to be answered by Eni

This is the "last question" to be answered by Eni.  Introduction Question 15: A Truly True Story I believe I was able to demonstrate that the story that I live with Eni in these almos 17 years is the honest truth. Indeed, Eni made some mistakes and errors regarding my case. And this is easily noted. However, if Eni still has any doubt, it would be important that the company conducted an “investigation” into my case. Thus, Eni could convince itself that my dismissal was unjust and that, in all these years, there were a series of mistakes and errors that are contradictory to the words and spirit of Eni’s Code of Ethics. Question 15: Is it possible for the Board of Eni to authorize an investigation into my case so we can put, at last, an end point in this story?
I am Eni's Whistleblower that suffers "retaliation" from this company until today.

There will be a total of "15 questions" which, in these 17 years, Eni has not yet answered.

Follow daily the new questions this Blog to see if the Italian oil giant will answer.

Question 14 is also in my LinkedIN.
